Thanks for video.
Hi Belinda
Thank you so much for this great video and all advice!
It was absolutely clarifying!
Excellent presentation!!!
Nice presentation. But coming from Africa, Ghana to be specific, I don’t know why people are against Palm Oil. I grew up on a palm oil plantation. I have been eating Palm nut soup since I was a child, I have been drinking Palm Wine since high school, have been cooking with Palm Oil since I started cooking decades ago. Africans do not know any cooking oil besides Palm Oil. It is organic, healthy, rich in vitamins, highest in Tocotrienols in the world. We don’t want any GMO soy, corn or cotton oils. Since I started formulating, I have been using Shea Butter and lately, Red Palm Oil in creams and lotions and it is fantastic. Excellent moisturizer and the customers swear by the products. Of course there are no animal byproducts. Benefits are incredible.
Thank you for your feedback and palm oil and derivatives are in fact very useful for the industry; but some consumer groups want to seek choice in their purchasing and that is why I’ve prepared this video because when trying to avoid palm oil and derivatives, it reduces your formulation choices significantly. Some companies want to appeal to these consumer groups and face these challenges. Thanks for watching, happy formulating

hello Belina,
very nice presentation and covers very important issues. I have a question about how do you sanitize you equipment in the halal products if you cant use alcohol? If I use the oven I should keep it at 350 for 1 hour, or what? thank you very much? Do you consider Sodium stearoyl glutamate as vegan emulsifier?
thanks
Saba
Ethanol or isopropyl alcohol used for sanitizing evaporates off the equipment, so there is no residue, and its use is therefore acceptable. With sodium stearoyl glutamate, you would need to contact the supplier and check the starting source of their materials to confirm suitability.
Kind regards,
Belinda Carli
Thank you Belinda for this video. I’m not a formulator, I’m a Medi-Spa & Oncology trained Esthetician serving a diverse clientele. I’m pretty sure that the Vegan, Halal and Palm Oil free will be the biggest trend in the upcoming months.
I so appreciate your videos as I’m also a skincare instructor. I love educating myself and passing the info to my students. I told them that we can’t disassociate beauty and science.
Will you be talking about the formulation of Epidermal Growth Factors products and how they operate their magic to the skin. Also how tailored made skincare lines (such as OMY) are able to make their formulations fit an individual skin condition?
Thanks again!
Thanks for these great suggestions, I’ll work these into my calendar of videos for next year!
Kind regards,
Belinda Carli
