Recorded on July 11, 2019
Presented by Down Under Enterprises
In this webinar, Down Under Enterprises will discuss why Sandalwood Oil should be considered as more than just a fragrance. Modern science has recognized Sandalwood for its antimicrobial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties.
The webinar will present current efficacy research on Sandalwood Oil, and the structured sustainability program created by the Western Australian government and implemented by the government’s Forest Products Commission (FPC) on the cultivation, harvesting, distillation, and supply of Australian Sandalwood Oil.
Since 2001, Down Under has specialised in Australian essential oils. We grow Tea Tree, Eucalyptus and other native Australian oils on our farms. Our work with Australian Sandalwood Oil began in 2002.
Traceability
The traceability of Australian Sandalwood Oil is achieved through a close cooperation with the Western Australian Government’s systems.
Sustainability
Through the principles of Ecologically Sustainable Forest Management, the FPC works towards an Australian Forestry Standard across its entire Sandalwood operations. FPC operates to the international standard for Environmental Management Systems – ISO14001. This independent certification provides assurance that Australian Sandalwood originates from responsibly managed forests.
Stable Supply
Australia produces nearly 80% of the world’s legally harvested Sandalwood. Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) licensed contractors harvest approximately 500 tons of oil-yielding Sandalwood trees each year across an area of ~146 million hectares from government lands on a strict, multi-decade rotational schedule. This wood is specifically destined for essential oil production.
Regeneration program
The FPC licenses and monitors Sandalwood plantings and other regeneration activities, including Aboriginal staff to plant in environmentally and culturally sensitive areas, ensuring sustainability of this activity for many generations to follow. These regeneration practices occur in harvested areas with 10,000,000 seeds planted across 1,500km of terrain every year.
This Down Under webinar introduces Sandalwood as a functional ingredient, sharing the sustainability and traceability initiatives which allow you to confidently use it in your formulations.

Hi,
I saw that the video has been posted on the site, but I never got an email with the link to it.
Is the recorded webinar available for download, so that I can view it even when I’m offline? If yes, how can I do so?
Hi Hazel,
We posted the video and the slides for people to immediately view the webinar. However, we had an audio problem with one of the speakers and we are in the process of re-recording the session for a better video. Once that is completed, we will send out the email. We just wanted to make sure to produce the best video possible while still providing content in a timely manner. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
