Robert Green Ingersoll once said: “The few lead, the many follow.” Never has this been more true than in the rapidly evolving cosmetics industry where stand-out scientists and formulation professionals have changed the face of personal care.

in-cosmetics has been at the forefront of these changes since its inauguration 27 years ago and the next instalment of the Global show, from 17-19 April 2018 in Amsterdam, will continue to build its reputation for tracking the trends and bringing together the industry’s most influential leading professionals.

Chemists at the in-cosmetics Formulation Lab - Find out who will be speaking at the show, and what critical issues are driving the industry in the Prospector Knowledge Center.

The event has recruited more than 20 new speakers this year who will share their knowledge and expertise with the thousands of visitors attending in-cosmetics Global.

Dr. Karl Lintner, President of KAL’IDEES will moderate a workshop on Suncare Protection: The skin and the electromagnetic spectrum, with Dr. Mathias Rohr lined up to discuss non-invasive in vivo SPF testing by Hybrid Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (HDRS). Four additional experts will join the panel to examine the big questions in the industry, such as what is new in protecting the skin against electromagnetic spectrum radiation and whether we need regulatory action regarding blue light and infrared irradiation claims.

Speaking at in-cosmetics for the first time, Emma Fric, Head of Research & Future Insight, PeclersParis, will present a Marketing Trends session on the Latin American beauty landscape. In her presentation, visitors will learn about the visionary sociocultural and beauty trends that will impact businesses and shape consumer desires in the next few years.

Another Marketing Trends session by new speaker Paula Cardoso, Head of Innovation Acceleration at Bloomoon, will look at the acceleration factor for innovation in the beauty industry, alongside colleague Houda Lazaar, Innovation Business Developer. Cosmetic companies face many challenges, both when innovating quickly and on a long-term basis and this session examines them.

A highly-anticipated round table in the Marketing Trends Theatre will see new speakers Camilla Marcus-Dew, Co-Founder of the ethical luxury personal care brand The Soap Co; and Zeze Oriaikhi-Sao, Founder of the luxury fragrance, bath and body care range from South Africa Malée Natural Science, present their arguments in the case: Are indie brands still worth the hype? Moderated by COSSMA editor Angelika Meiss, the audience can expect a lively expert discussion from these experienced businesswomen, as well as Nick Vaus, Partner and Creative Director at the brand design consultancy DewGibbons + Partners, who rounds out the panel.

Away from the educational programme, in-cosmetics Global offers new concepts for 2018, including:

  • A series of ‘silent’ R&D Tours sponsored by Mibelle Biochemistry and Novacap. They will take place on two of the industry major trends – Biotechnology Actives and The Future of Anti-Ageing.
  • A half-day Regulatory Conference in partnership with Conusbat on 16 April at 2pm. For regulatory and compliance professionals, the sessions will cover crucial regulations.
  • A hotly-anticipated Formulation Challenge, sponsored by Croda on 19 April. Six leading manufacturers will create an innovative formulation from a box of mystery raw materials in just 90 minutes, to be judged by a panel of market specialists.
  • Boost your Test, in partnership with Skinobs, entails an interactive area spotlighting human testing, in-vitro testing and testing through high tech devices, within the categories of anti-pollution, microbiome, and anti-ageing.
