Are you looking for simple ways to reduce product development and production time? What about enhancing performance? Perhaps you’re focused on sustainability efforts, or alleviating regulatory concerns?
Good news: You don’t have to choose between these priority areas. The next step in powerful, efficient, sustainable cleaning is here: BASF just launched two new blends in the Dehypound® Family, and both blends are poised to disrupt the Home Care and I&I markets by addressing all the above priorities – and more.
The products: Dehypound M and Dehypound HDG. Both are high-performance nonionic surfactant blends for multi-soil, multi-application cleaning and degreasing.
Dehypound M and Dehypound HDG are right on trend as the industry embraces the power and potential of blends. Why blends?
Simplicity. Blends significantly reduce formulation/product development time, plus the time needed for production.
Safety. Simplifying formulations by reducing the number of raw materials translates to less handling and exposure to raw materials, leading to safer workers and their environments.
Sustainability. Better for the brand, better for the earth: Dehypound blends are readily biodegradable; safer, low in 1,4-Dioxane, easier and cost efficient to transport, and contribute environmentally friendly attributes to the final product.
Performance. Blends are precision-tailored for exceeding performance of the final formulation and multiple applications, designed and perfected by expert BASF chemists.
Dehypound M and Dehypound HDG, are engineered for superior cleaning without the need for solvents. Notably, the new Dehypound blends can be formulated in products that expand their operational temperature range, allowing those products to be used in more applications. This is significant, as many benchmark products are ineffective at higher temperatures and limit their application flexibility. Another advantage: Dehypound M and Dehypound HDG are both low in 1,4-Dioxane. As regulations tighten around 1,4-Dioxane use, it’s essential to choose ingredients and blends that provide premium performance while keeping the 1,4-Dioxane content compliant in final formulations. BASF’s portfolio now features more than 90 low and 1,4-Dioxane-free products, and the newest blends are an ideal example of safe, compliant products that don’t sacrifice efficacy.
Here’s a closer look at the new blends and their optimal applications:

Specifications
Dehypound HDG contains no water. Depending on the formulation, Dehypound HDG is compatible with up to 20% NaOH and up to 10% hydrochloric acid. Dehypound HDG can be complemented with additional chemistries (e.g., defoamers, other low foaming surfactants, chelates, etc.) to meet performance targets.
Dehypound HDG has an operational temperature range of RT – 150® F. Its foaming characteristics are moderately low and dissipating.
Powerful, multifunctional cleaning
Multifunctional cleaning is efficient cleaning. Dehypound HDG and Dehypound M can replace/consolidate multiple surfactants, eliminate the need for solvents, and (in the case of Dehypound M) coupling agents in most formulations. Looking for compatibility? Dehypound HDG is >99% active and suited for water-soluble pouches. Also, both blends are ideal for use in aerosols, wipes, and dilutable concentrates. In addition to consolidating and eliminating no longer needed raw materials, these blends free up storage space. Furthermore, our Dehypound blends can support lowering your 1,4-Dioxane levels in final formulations.
The market is increasingly demanding products that don’t sacrifice performance to ensure versatility, compatibility, or sustainability. These blends fit the bill.
