High molecular weight polysiloxanes and silicones have special and unique properties: high flexibility and impact resistance (till -70°C), very high thermal stability (till >300°C), very low surface tension, low flammability and very low friction versus metals and other plastics.
For over a decade, Silma has been a master in exploiting these peculiar characteristics to produce special additives for plastics and composites, under trade name “SILMAPROCESS”.
With minimum dosages of SILMAPROCESS in powder or granules, it is possible to modify the surface properties of rigid plastics (PE, PP, cystal PS, HIPS, PA, PET, …) and thermoplastic rubbers (SBS/SEBS, TPV, TPE, copolyesters, EPR / EPDM, EVA, POE, TPU …) in order to significantly improve:

The improvements listed above are obviously the best that can be sought in applications such as shoe soles, rubber technical articles, car interior parts, where aesthetic properties are essential for the success.
As further side benefits, SILMA’s polysiloxane additives give the polymeric materials:
- better processability (= reduced viscosity)
- fewer deposits of materials in molds and dies (lower die droll)
- better impact resistance
- better fire behavior (no dripping and reduced smoke emission)
Combined with the previous benefits, these additional advantages make SILMAPROCESS the ideal additives also for cables, pipes, and polypropylene and polyamide compounds loaded with minerals and glass fibers
