Recorded October 6, 2016 – Presented by Dow Corning
Polyoxymethylene (POM) compounds are widely used in automotive, consumer, medical and electronics applications. Surface properties play an important role for applications with demanding needs for excellent sliding performance against POM as well as other polymers or steel. Dow Corning solutions can help to improve the slip performance for POM compounds while maintaining excellent levels of mechanical performance, increase processability, providing optimal short and long-term sliding performance and offering significant economic benefits versus incumbent offerings, which could be PTFE amongst others.
In this webinar, Dow Corning’s experts will explain how their additives can enhance these properties, offering a reliable, instantaneous solution.
Why should you attend?
Learn how silicone based additives can boost the surface performance of POM compounds while maintaining the mechanical performance. The tribology performance of the final compound depends on the overall system parameters; amongst others these are speed, force, sliding partner, sliding distance, temperature and humidity. The webinar is intended to help you understanding the different additives Dow Corning is offering to enable you developing best-in-class tribology compounds.
Dow Corning additives are available in pellet form (Dow Corning® MB40-006, HMB-1103 and MB20-736 Additives) or powder form (Dow Corning® EP-5500 Additive). They have been developed to significantly improve a compound’s coefficient of friction (CoF), allowing it to achieve greater performance at significantly lower levels than silicone-polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or silicone-oil, while maintaining excellent mechanical properties.
Additionally, they improve mar and abrasion resistance, providing superior stick-slip performance, support noise reduction and offer superior processability vs. competitive materials through torque reduction. These ultra-high molecular weight polymers also overcome the handling and surface adhesion difficulties typical of similar plastic additives.
Depending on your individual needs our experts can help you selecting the additive meeting your requirements best.
